Technology & Products

Choosing the right energy storage technology can have a tremendous impact on the success of your program. A rechargeable battery source is a strategic component that affects cost, weight and size, performance, environmental compliance, ruggedness, safety, manufacturability, scalability, and many other program success factors.

Electro Energy is the partner of choice for companies working on advanced applications that require the smartest battery technology that delivers the highest value for your applications. No other company approaches our breadth of cell structures and chemistries. Working with Electro Energy guarantees you the best energy storage for your programs today, and a research and development partner working with you on future technologies.

Here is an overview of some of the company’s advanced battery storage technologies:

Bipolar
The patented wafer cell design pioneered by Electro Energy uses space so efficiently and stores and produces energy so effectively that it results in batteries with 50 percent higher power, 30 percent better volume, and a longer life at a substantially lower cost, weight, and size than conventional monopolar batteries. Unlike conventional cylindrical and prismatic batteries, bipolar technology is also adaptable to multiple chemistries, including Lithium-ion and NiMH.

NiCd and Super NiCdTM
Electro Energy has a long record of success with its NiCd technologies for sophisticated military, aerospace, and space applications. The standard NiCd has successfully flown on military platforms such as the B-52, B-1, and Cobra Attack Helicopters. The advanced Super NiCdTM has flown on multiple satellite missions including the Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR) Spacecraft, Comet Nucleus Tour (CONTOUR), and Gravity Probe B, an experiment to prove Einstein’s theory of relativity. Many of Electro Energy’s Super NiCdTM batteries are still flying, and some with over 60,000 cycles, the equivalent of more than 15 years.
